ENTERPRISE INFORMATION SYSTEMS

On completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Identify the role of business wide systems to support business strategy
  • Describe the scale and complexity of enterprise system packages
  • Explain how enterprise systems integrate functional areas into one enterprise-wide information system
  • Describe the role of enterprise systems as part of the larger IT infrastructure of large scale organizations
  • Identify the implementation variables, individual variables and contextual variables that interact to influence a successful enterprise system implementation
  • Use a process modelling tool to model processes

Introduction to enterprise systems, modern enterprise solution, emergence of enterprise systems, growth of enterprise systems, enterprise system requirements, business process optimisation, business process management, risk management strategy, vendor selection, enterprise integration, customer integration, integration issues, entire resource planning, master data management, organisational change management, future issues and trends.

Lectures, practical sessions and case discussions.

End of course unit examination, practical tests and group assignments.
