Team Strikers, the representation of BSc. (MIT) students emerged victorious at the IFS Code Kombat Hackathon, held at The Stables, Colombo 07, on the 28th October 2017. The Hackathon was organised by IFS Sri Lanka, as part of the 20th anniversary of their Sri Lankan operations. Code Kombat offered a unique challenge to the participants, as competitors were required to develop the code for the task on site. The task for the day was to develop a virtual battle tank, based on the Robocode platform. In order to ensure an evenly matched competition, some functionalities of the standard battle bot were limited, and competitors were required to develop functionalities to improve it’s attack and defence capabilities.

The 15 competing teams from Universities all across Sri Lanka then prepared their battle bots for four rounds of battle on a virtual arena, out of which three were competitive rounds. The team Strikers was the sole representation of University of Kelaniya at the competition, and comprised of undergraduates of Department of Industrial Management pursuing BSc. MIT degree program; Rameela Azeez (team leader - L3), Choxmi Sathsara (L4), Chiran Wijesekara (L3), Pasan Peiris and Charinda Dissanayake (L2).

Points were awarded for the survival of the bots as well as attacks on rival bots. At the completion of the competitive rounds, team Strikers emerged as overall winners.
